Young hero's licence suspended

The Nampally criminal court on Tuesday fined young hero Nikhil, the young Tollywood hero, Rs 2,600 for driving his vehicle in an inebriated condition.

More importantly, the court also suspended the actor’s four-wheeler driving licence. Police caught Nikhil in the early hours of Saturday at Jubilee Hills. They seized his car and driving licence and booked a case.

On the orders of the magistrate, Nikhil was produced before the court on Tuesday.

The actor had vowed to stop drinking alcohol and had also participated in anti-alcohol and anti-drunken driving programmes that have been held in the city.

The Hyderabad police, instead of merely imposing a fine on drunken drivers when they are caught, are taking them to court hoping that this would be a greater deterrent and would reduce the number of accidents due to drunk driving.
