Sachin Tendulkar walks back towards the pavilion after his dismissal during the fourth day's play of the third Test cricket match between India and West Indies at The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and seniormost player Sachin Tendulkar were given much needed rest as the selectors appointed Virender Sehwag captain of the 15-member squad for the first three ODIs against West Indies.

Another senior player Yuvraj Singh was also not in the squad as he has informed the board that he is not fully fit, a media release issued by the BCCI stated.

Out-of-form off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was once again ignored by the selection committee.

The first match of the ODI series will be played in Cuttack on November 29 while Visakhapatnam (December 2), Ahmedabad (December 5), Indore (December 8) and Chennai (December 11) will host the other matches.

తెలంగాణ ఇస్తే సై?...
పార్టీ వర్గాలే చెబుతున్న సమాచారం ప్రకారం కేసీఆర్‌ ఢిల్లీ వెళ్ళటమే ఒక పకడ్బందీ వ్యూహంతో జరిగింది. తెలంగాణ కోసం భావ సారూప్యం కలిగిన శక్తులను కూడగడతామని, కాంగ్రెస్‌ నాయకత్వంపై ఒత్తిడి పెంచుతామని చెప్పి ఢిల్లీ వెళ్లిన ఆయన రహస్యంగా కాంగ్రెస్‌ నాయకత్వంతో మంతనాలు జరుపు తున్నట్టు సమాచారం. ఈ ప్రయత్నంలో భాగంగానే రెండు, మూడు రోజుల్లో కాంగ్రెస్‌ అధినేత్రి సోనియా రాజకీయ సలహాదారు అహ్మద్‌ పటేల్‌తో అపాయిం ట్‌మెంట్‌ కోసం కేసీఆర్‌ ప్రయత్నించి సరే అనిపించుకున్నారు. ఈ సమా వేశంలోనే విలీన మంత్రాంగం జరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని తెలుస్తోంది. అయితే కాంగ్రెస్‌కు పూర్తిగా దాసోహం అన్నట్టు కాకుండా షరతులతో కూడిన చర్చలకు ఈ సమావేశం నాంది పలుకుతుందంటున్నారు.

హైదరాబాద్‌తో కూడిన తెలం గాణను ఇచ్చేందుకు కాంగ్రెస్‌ అంగీకరిస్తే ఇక ముందూ వెనకా చూడకుండా కాంగ్రెస్‌ మహా ప్రవాహంలో తన పార్టీని కలిపేసేందుకు కేసీఆర్‌ సుముఖంగా ఉన్నట్టు ఢిల్లీలో, హైదరాబాద్‌లో సైతం రాజకీయ వర్గాలు చెప్పుకుంటున్నాయి. ఈ సంవత్సరాంతానికి తెలంగాణ ప్రక్రియ ప్రారంభించి 2014 తొలి అర్ధ భాగానికి రాష్ట్ర ప్రకటన చేస్తామని కాంగ్రెస్‌ నాయకత్వం హామీ ఇస్తే విలీనానికి తనకు ఎలాంటి అభ్యంతరమూ లేదన్న షరతును అహ్మద్‌ పటేల్‌ ముందు కేసీ ఆర్‌ ఉంచబోతున్నారని చెబుతున్నారు.

శ్రేణుల గగ్గోలు...
ఒకవైపు ఇతర పార్టీల నుంచి ఎమ్మెల్యేలను, ప్రముఖ నాయకులనూ పార్టీలో కి ఆకర్షిస్తూ మరోవైపు ఇలాంటి ప్రయత్నాలు చేయటమేమిటని పార్టీ శ్రేణులు ప్రశ్నిస్తున్నట్టు తెలిసింది. ఇప్పుడిప్పుడే పార్టీ తెలంగాణలో పట్టు లేని ప్రాంతా లలో సైతం విస్తరిస్తుండగా ఉన్నపళంగా కేసీఆర్‌ ఈ ఆలోచన చేయటం పట్ల ద్వితీయ శ్రేణి నాయకులు ఆశ్చర్యం వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. ఒకవేళ ఈ సమా చారమే నిజమైతే కేసీఆర్‌ నాయకత్వాన్ని విశ్వసించి ఇటీవల పార్టీలో చేరిన కాంగ్రెస్‌ ఎమ్మెల్యేల గతి భవిష్యత్తులో అధోగతే అవుతుందని వారు అంటు న్నారు. 

ఇటీవలే జూపల్లి కృష్ణారావు, రాజయ్య, సోమారపు సత్యనారాయణను కాంగ్రెస్‌ నుంచి, గంప గోవర్ధన్‌, జోగు రామన్నను టీడీపీ నుంచీ బయటకు తెచ్చి తన పార్టీలో కేసీఆర్‌ చేర్చుకున్నారు. ఆ సందర్భంగా వారందరికీ అత్యున్న తమైన భవిష్యత్తు ఉండేలా చూసుకుంటానని హామీ ఇచ్చారు. అదీగాక విలీన సమాచారమే నిజమైతే గతంలో ఎన్నడూ కాంగ్రెస్‌ వాసన గిట్టని పాలమూరు మాజీ ఎంపీ ఎపి జితేందర్‌ రెడ్డి లాంటి వారు కచ్చితంగా పార్టీకి దూరమయ్యే అవకాశాలున్నాయని సీనియర్‌ నాయకులు చెబుతున్నారు. జితేందర్‌తో పాటు ఏనాడూ కాంగ్రెస్‌వైపు తొంగి చూడని నాయిని నరసింహారెడ్డి, ఈటెల రాజేం దర్‌, పొలిట్‌ బ్యూరో సభ్యుడు కర్నె ప్రభాకర్‌, గుంతకళ్ళ జగదీశ్వర్‌ రెడ్డి, బాన్స్‌ వాడ నుంచి ఘన విజయం సాధించిన పోచారం శ్రీనివాసరెడ్డి లాంటి హేమా హేమీ నాయకుల పరిస్థితి ఏమవుతుందని ద్వితీయ శ్రేణి నేతలు ప్రశ్నిస్తున్నారు.

నాటి మాట ఏమైంది?
2009లో తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీతో పొత్తు పెట్టుకున్నప్పటికీ చావు తప్పి కన్ను లొట్టబోయిన చందంగా 11 స్థానాలు మాత్రం గెలిచిన తర్వాత కేసీఆర్‌ ఒకసారి మీడియా సమావేశం ఏర్పాటు చేసి ఇక భవిష్యత్తులో ఏ పార్టీతోనూ పొత్తులాంటిది ఉండబోదని కరాఖండిగా చెప్పారు. ఒంటరిగా పోటీ చేసి తెలంగాణలో 100 అసెంబ్లీ, కనీసం ఏడు లోక్‌సభ స్థానాలు సాధించటమే ఇక ఇప్పటినుంచీ తమ వ్యూహం అని తేల్చి చెప్పారు. 2004లో కాంగ్రెస్‌, 2009లో టీడీపీతో పోటీ చేసినందుకు బుద్ధి వచ్చిందని, ఇక ఆ పొరపాట్లు మళ్ళీ చేయబోమని గట్టి హామీ ఇచ్చారని, ఇప్పుడు కాంగ్రెస్‌లో విలీనం అంటూ వ్యూహాన్ని మారిస్తే ప్రజల ముందు నవ్వులపాలు కాక తప్పదని ద్వితీయ శ్రేణి నాయకులు బహిరంగంగానే చెప్పుకుంటున్నారు

విజయవాడ, ఒంగోలు, విశాఖ జిల్లాల్లో శుక్రవారం జరిగిన రచ్చబండ సభల్లో ఉద్రిక్తత పరిస్థితి ఏర్పడింది. విజయవాడ రచ్చబండలో సమస్యలపై ప్రశ్నించిన సిపిఎం నాయకులు, మహిళలపై పోలీసులు దౌర్జన్యం చేశారు. సిపిఎం రాష్ట్ర కమిటీ సభ్యులు సిహెచ్‌.బాబూరావును సుమారు 40 మంది పోలీసులు చుట్టుముట్టి లాక్కెళ్లారు. మహిళలపై పిడిగుద్దులు గుద్దారు. ఒంగోలులో వైఎస్‌ ఫొటో లేదని స్థానిక ఎమ్మెల్యే బాలినేని శ్రీనివాసరెడ్డి అభ్యంతరం వ్యక్తం చేయడంతో ఎంపి మాగుంట శ్రీనివాసులరెడ్డి, బాలినేని గ్రూపుల మధ్య గొడవ జరిగింది. దీంతో బాలినేనిని అరెస్టు చేశారు. విశాఖ జిల్లా డుంబ్రిగుడ మండలం జంగిడివలస గిరిజనుల ఇళ్ల స్థలాల సమస్యపై రచ్చబండను అడ్డుకుంటామని ప్రకటించిన సిపిఎం మండల కార్యదర్శి కిల్లో దయానిధిని ముందస్తుగా అరెస్టు చేశారు. విజయవాడ 55వ డివిజన్‌ రచ్చబండ సభలో 'ఎఎస్‌ఓగారూ, తెల్లకార్డువాళ్లకు 30 కిలోల బియ్యం ఇస్తామన్నారు. ఇంతవరకూ ఇవ్వలేదు' అని సిపిఎం రాష్ట్ర కమిటీ సభ్యులు సిహెచ్‌.బాబూరావు సమస్యను చెబుతుండగానే సుమారు 40 మంది పోలీసులు ఆయనను చుట్టుముట్టారు. తాను స్థానిక మాజీ కార్పొరేటర్‌ననీ, ఎందుకు మాట్లాడనివ్వడం లేదనీ ప్రశ్నిస్తుండగానే సెంట్రల్‌ ఎసిపి సత్యనారాయణ ఆధ్వర్యంలో అప్పటికే రోప్‌పార్టీతో సిద్ధమైన కానిస్టేబుళ్లు లాక్కెళ్లిపోయారు. 

అడ్డుకోబోయిన స్థానిక నాయకులు రమణ తదితరులను పక్కకు నెట్టేశారు. కాళ్లుపట్టుకుని ఈడ్చుకెళ్లారు. అప్పటికే సిద్ధంగా ఉంచిన ఆటోలో ఎత్తిపడేశారు. మహిళలు తమ సమస్యలు చెబుతుండగానే కాంగ్రెస్‌ ఎమ్మెల్యే మల్లాది విష్ణు వెంట తిరిగే కొద్దిమంది స్థానిక రౌడీషీటర్లు బెదిరింపులకు దిగారు. నోరెత్తితే అరెస్టు చేయిస్తామంటూ భయబ్రాంతులకు గురిచేశారు. మహిళలను పోలీసులు పిడిగుద్దులు గుద్దారు. టాస్క్‌ఫోర్సు కానిస్టేబుళ్లయితే నాయకులపై దౌర్జన్యం ప్రదర్శించారు. అరెస్టును నిరసిస్తూ సిపిఎం నాయకులు రచ్చబండ జరుగుతున్న షాదీఖానా ప్రధానగేటు ముందు ధర్నాకు దిగారు. వారినీ పోలీసులు అరెస్టు చేశారు. ఆరుగురు సిఐలు, 12 మంది ఎస్‌ఐలు, రోప్‌పార్టీ, టాస్కుఫోర్సు పోలీసులు సుమారు 200 మంది మోహరించారు. బాబూరావును, ఇతర నాయకులను అరెస్టు చేసేందుకు పోలీసులు ముందుగానే వ్యూహర రచించారు. ఇందులో భాగంగా రచ్చబండ వేదిక వెనుకవైపు ప్రహరీగోడను పగులకొట్టించారు. అది తెలియకుండా ఉండేందుకు తడికలు అడ్డం పెట్టారు. బాబూరావును అరెస్టు చేస్తుండగానే మఫ్టీలో ఉన్న పోలీసులు వెళ్లి తడికలు లాగేసి ఆటోలను సిద్ధం చేశారు. నాయకులను క్షణాల్లో అక్కడ నుండి తరలించారు. దీనికోసం నాలుగు రోజుల నుండి ఇంటిలిజెన్స్‌ పోలీసులు అక్కడే ఉండి పనులు చక్కబెట్టారు.

అరెస్టు చేసిన నాయకులను పటమట పోలీసుస్టేషన్‌కు తరలించారు. తమను ఎందుకు అరెస్టు చేశారో చెప్పాలంటూ నాయకులు స్టేషన్‌ ముందు ధర్నాకు దిగారు. విషయం తెలుసుకున్న సిపిఎం నగర కార్యదర్శి ఆర్‌.రఘు తదితరులు అక్కడకు చేరుకుని పోలీసుల తీరుపై అభ్యంతరం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. స్థానిక మాజీ కార్పొరేటర్‌గా బాబూరావు సమస్యలు లేవనెత్తుతుంటే తట్టుకోలేక అరెస్టులు చేయిస్తున్నారని విమర్శించారు. అనంతరం నాయకులను, కార్యకర్తలను విడిచిపెట్టారు.

Why This Kolaveri Di, already a rage, seems on a record breaking spree. In less than a day, the song has got more than a million hits on YouTube and so far has registered 4,052,189 hits.

The promo of the song was released on YouTube Nov 16 and spread like a viral, thanks to its funny, nonsense Tanglish (Tamil-English). On Thursday evening, the song notched up to 3,020,014 hits on YouTube, and suprisingly the count spiralled to 4,052,189 by Friday noon.

Amitabh Bachchan is going gaga over the foot-tapping music and says he just can't get enough of the song sung by Tamil star Dhanush for his film 3, which is being directed by his wife Aishwarya, the daughter of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. The song has been composed by 18-year-old Anirudh Ravichander.

"'Why this Kolaveri Kolaveri Kolaveri Di' .. Ahh...just not leaving the lips and the mind and the system...such an endearing experience. Brings a smile and laughter and rhythm instantly to the face... get to YouTube, type Dhanush and Kolaveri Di... its his latest song that has become a rage all over," Amitabh posted on his blog Bigb.bigadda.com.

 

"Dhanush, son-in-law of Rajinikanth, a young brigade superstar in Tamil Cinema married to Aishwarya, Rajini's daughter...its lovely. 'Kolaveri...' The Bollywood megastar is so impressed by the song that he even posted a few lines praising the song on his Twitter.

Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu is planning to move the AP High Court to stop the preliminary CBI investigation it has ordered against him for allegedly amassing illegal wealth and favouring organisations and individuals during his tenure as Chief Minister. He has also postponed his Rythu Poru Bata padayatra programme in Adilabad and Nizamabad districts on Saturday and Sunday after the police sounded a high-alert following the shooting of top Maoist Kishenji in West Bengal.

Sources in the TD reve-aled that senior party leaders urged Mr Naidu to approach the High Court because many of the allegations levelled by Vijayalak-shmi, wife of Y.S. Rajasek-har Reddy, have been dealt with by the High Court, House Committees and other inquiries, and some of them were dismissed.

“Mr Naidu seems to agree with the viewpoint of sen-ior party leaders that he did not get natural justice to prove his innocence. Init-ially, he was reluctant but finally agreed to move the High Court, most probably on Monday,” a senior TD leader told this newspaper.

Mr Naidu did not appro-ach the Supreme Court and instead preferred to wait for orders on the appeals filed by Ramoji Rao, C.M. Ramesh and Nama Nagesw-ara Rao, MP, who are also facing the CBI probe. But a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Dalveer Bhandari, Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice Dipak Misra dismissed the special leave petitions filed by the three and directed them to approach the High Court.
Ushodaya Enterprises ow-ned by Mr Ramoji Rao has already moved the High Court, while the other two did so on Saturday. Mr Naidu may move the court on Monday.

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Musli-meen (MIM) leader Akb-aruddin Owaisi on Friday made it clear to the Con-gress that the party would like to take over the seat of the Mayor for the next two years. The Congress’ Banda Kartika Reddy completes two years in office on December 4. Mr Owaisi met AP Con-gress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and asked him to honour the seat-sharing agreement between the alliance partners.

As per the pact, the post of Mayor will be held for the first two years by the Congress and the next two years by the MIM. The fifth will go to the Congress again, an understanding reached between the two parties after the GHMC polls in 2009. Sources said Mr Satyana-rayana discussed the possibility of the Congress continuing in the Mayor’s seat for three years in a row, instead of taking it back in the final year. The MIM can then hold the post for the remaining two years. Mr Owaisi, however, told this newspaper after the meeting with the PCC chief that his party does not wa-nt to wait for another year.
