Speaker to take up resignations
The AP Assembly Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, has initiated the process of disposing the resignations of MLAs pending with him before the next session of the House. Sources close to the Speaker told this newspaper that all those MLAs who tendered resignations and joined other parties and are associating with the activities of other parties will be called for a one-on-one meeting with him and appropriately dispose their resignations.
If such members desire to return to their parent parties, the sources added that those MLAs will be asked to withdraw their resignations. If they insist that their resignations are accepted, and reiterate their commitment to work with the new dispensations, then their resignations will be accepted. With regard to disqualification petitions pending for enquiry, the due process will be followed like serving notices and conducting regular hearings. However, they will be taken up only after conclusion of the Winter Session and not before or during the session, the source pointed out.
As far as all the other resignations from the Congress, TRS, TD and Independents for the sake Telangana statehood are concerned, they will be summarily rejected. It is most likely the Winter Session of Assembly may commence from December 2, the source added.
